Missionary of the Month - February

Mayra Solorzano is our featured missionary for the month of February. She is a part of our church family here at Calvary South OC and will be leaving this month for missionary outreaches in multiple countries in Asia. Below, Mayra has shared with us about her missionary training, how the Lord is leading her in missions, and ways we can be praying for her.

From Darkness to Light

It has now been almost three years since Jesus Christ saved my life. It took about eighteen years for me to finally fully surrender, but He was always patiently waiting for me. Jesus met me in my room on May 16th, 2021. Ever since then, my life has not been the same.

I have been serving the Lord in different kinds of ministry- everywhere from Kids ministry, to Women’s ministry, to even Care + Recovery ministry. It wasn't until I started going on mission trips in 2021, that God started to break my heart for the lost and the unsaved. As some of you may know, the Lord has confirmed my call for full-time cross-cultural mission work in the 10/40 window.

To the Ends of the Earth
This past summer, I had the opportunity to attend and complete Calvary School of Missions a 6 week program down in Rosarito, Mexico. I had my own plans and expectations of where I wanted to go going into the school. But God. He had completely different perfect plans (doesn’t He always). Let’s just say He spoke to my heart and said wherever He is going to send me, He is the one who is going to get ALL the glory for it. I thought I understood it then but little did I know what He was getting ready to do

Coming back from School of Missions, I was ready to faithfully walk in obedience towards the call the Lord had placed in my life. I packed up and moved to Yorba Linda to continue in the Missions Training School (currently)– getting equipped and trained up in full-time ministry.

Here I am. Send Me!

The Lord has been so faithful in guiding my path and leading me in His everlasting way. As He continues to prepare me for full-time missionary work, my biggest lesson is to remain available and willing. There are promises He has spoken to me, but I am reminded to hold them lightly and fully surrender them back to Him.

He recently opened the door for me to travel to Japan, Indonesia, and the Philippines. My prayer is to seek the Lord in Japan, specifically, and ask God if this is the next move for full-time work. Never in a million years would I have told you I would be doing what I am doing. But God. He is the one who will get all the glory and anything with Him is possible.

Prayer Requests-

  •  Please pray for the Missions Training School- to continue to be equipped and trained up for full-time ministry/missionary work. For specific confirmation to the students on where God is calling them.

  • Please pray for there to be revival for all generations to reach the nations with the gospel!

  • Please pray for the trip to Japan, Indonesia and Philippines- for a hedge of protection, to seek the Lord and hear His voice, for opportunities to share the gospel, to be a light in a dark place, and for the missionaries moving there.

  • Please pray for financial provision- either through partnerships or other opportunities.

  • Please pray for the peace of Jerusalem- for all Arab nations around to come to a full

    revelation of the truth.

  • Please pray against any spiritual warfare during the trip and for current missionaries

    working in the 10/40 window.

  • Please pray for hearts to be opened and for the Spirit of God to move radically during

    these times!

  • Please pray for the church in America- may we humble ourselves, repent, and turn back

to God as a nation. May God forgive all the wickedness happening here in the USA.

  • Please pray for more laborers- the harvest is plentiful but the laborers are few!

Thank you!

Thank you family for your constant love– all of the above is the fruit from this congregation. It is because of your faithful partnership in the gospel from the first day till now, through prayer and financial support, that any of this is possible.

My heart rejoices with this opportunity of partnering with my church family here at South OC as a Missionary, I am truly humbled. Those are some BIG shoes to fill. If you have any other questions, I would love to chat. May the Lord bless you and shine His face upon you.
